Lanzarote was declared a reserve of the biosphere in 1993 by UNESCO and is known world wide for its natural beauty which has been improved with the help of man. The international artist from Lanzarote, César Manrique, created a special love for this burnt land which continues even today. Thanks to him, the island today has a network of centres of art, culture and tourism (Cacts) which the visitor should not miss.
